Industrial wet scrubbers are another method used to reduce the amount of pollution released into the air. Many industries can generate toxic gasses such as hydrogen sulfide, greenhouse gasses such as carbon dioxide and dust and dirt which is mandatory to control emissions to the atmosphere.
Industrial scrubbers filter out these substances before they leave the smokestack so that they can be either converted into byproduct or safely disposed of.
A wet scrubber uses water to remove pollutants. Water vapor is sprayed into the scrubber unit, where it mixes with the dust laden gasses/air. The harmful dust particles are attached to the water particles which cascade down into the sump where they settle and can be neutralized.
Ground limestone or some other neutralizing agents are mixed into the water to enable the water to be disposed of safely.
